The Central Virginia Chapter of PCEA was first formed in 1976 as Chapter No. 4 of the organization (The fourth chapter chartered at that time). The PCEA was discovered by several contractors from the Lynchburg Area that were working at the time in North Carolina. Upon learning more about PCEA from contacts they had there, it was decided to contact various contractors in the region to see if there was enough interest to form a chapter here in Virginia. The first gathering was held at the Holiday Inn and with over twenty five individuals attending, a chapter was formed, officers elected and meetings planned. The chapter stayed active a few years but with the recession of the late 70's, the membership slowly disolved.
In the mid 1980's Richard Mosby with Coleman Adams Construction, discovered the PCEA again from many outside contacts in the industry, and soon learned that there used to be a chapter here in Lynchburg. Again with the help of several members from the Carolina's and others in the area, a meeting was held to restore interest. Again this was at the Holiday Inn, and the chapter was restored with it's origonal Status of being No. 4, even though by that time many more chapters had been formed in other locations.
Today the Central Virgina Chapter of PCEA is alive and well, and supports edcuation, training, and fellowship in all aspects of the construction industry and estimating.
